Here are some of the latest trends in the most common jewelry materials.
Ring diamonds are the most common formation for these precious stones. Some of the latest trends in ring diamonds might be star and astral shapes, or using with more naturally inspired designs. Retailers are also seeing a higher demand for softer and more fluidly shaped ring diamonds, which lend themselves to smaller stones. Different textures and finishes are also being used for ring diamonds, and they are being paired with more gold and silver jewelry. One of the most popular settings for ring diamonds is the flush setting, which consumers can expect to see more if.
Gold jewelry buyers can expect to see more naturally inspired designs, as well, especially in 14k and 18k jewelry. There should be more gold jewelry earrings that contain dangling balls, fringes and strands. Colored gems and different textures or enamels should also be appearing more often in gold jewelry. Multiple strand gold jewelry should become especially prominent.
In the world of silver jewelry, neo-Victorian Western and Native American themes are all having comebacks. Scatter pins, cufflinks and belt buckles are increasingly popular forms of silver jewelry. Different finishes are being used on silver jewelry as well, such as textured and matte. The combination of pearls with silver jewelry is also more common, but silver really lends itself to many different materials and stones.
Pearl jewelry is having a big comeback of its own, especially Chinese freshwater, South Sea, blister and baroque pearls. Chinese freshwater pearl jewelry is being used in twisted designs more often, and South Sea pearl jewelry is being seen combined with gold. The South Sea pearls are often used as a focal point in gold jewelry. Blister pearl jewelry is usually in the form if pendants and pins these days, whereas baroque pearls are being seen in the longer strands because they are more affordable.
The latest trend in gemstone jewelry is cabochons, which are even being cut in unusual shapes such as tongue, sugarloaf, bullet, double cab and various outline shapes. Gemstone jewelry is also being paired with pink gold these days, and new combinations of colored gems are also more common. Some of the newest gemstone jewelry designs are taking inspiration from 1960s designs, especially peridot gems.
